-Character design sketch done as an exercise for fun for myself. Wanted to take the iconic DC characters and redesign them to fit in a more medieval antiquity world. Thinking what type of characters they would grow to be if they had to deal with the morals and ways of living of that era-
I was a bit more ambitious with this one. Maybe its because 2 awesome movies of this character were made or that i played 2 kick ass batman games. Either way, i had a pretty clear idea how i wanted to represent this character.
Now, this shot isn't really great way to present the design. I mean, The pose obscures most of it and the lighting i chose doesn't really help either. But i wanted that feeling of the Dark Knight to come across clearly. That was the plan anyway.
When thinking of the Dark Knight in a medieval era, i really imagine him being an assassin/thief type of character. The anti hero with an incredibly strong sense of justice who fights in the shadows with stealth agility and fear rather than with a giant ass sword or axe.
Although i imagined him in a more european setting, i wanted his costume to express a certain exotic quality. Since i would imagine he learned his skill from other countries and was probably influenced by other cultures
It's certainly a fresh view of the Dark Knight. I've never seen a medieval version of Batman, but I think this one works very well. I see how his outfit as an oriental and Middle East vibe to it; the classic Batman traveled the world to learn his skills, so why not this version? It would be good to see another picture with this Batman going head-to-head with evildoers.
i imagine this batman as sort of a champion of the poor, apposed to the bruce wayne trillionaire type. maybe he helps fight against the corrupt royal family? thatd be cool. but you made me think of his backstory, that means an amazing job on your part, so good work!
