This is a personal project that i've been working on for the past few months. It's based on a native american folklore entitled "The Red Swan."


Transformation from human form to swan form. The initial idea for the transformation was what people would normally think of for a swan transformation, which is a smooth graceful transition from human to creature form with some magic dust. However, i wanted to make the swan form feel more like a curse and a burden and something that pains her. With this in mind i wanted to make each stage of the transformation feel like she is slowly being forced into this caged form and out of this suppression, this form of a swan coms out. Basically i didn't want it all pretty.

Even before I read the artist comment this just gave me all kinds of heebie jeebies, so congrats on that aspect (#4-5, brrrrr....) I do rather love that little bit where it's her pigtails that turn into the swan's wings.
